Smart Sheep And Dumb Wolves

Let’s face it the whole process of going to college and getting a good job and living a normal life is what 99% of people do as that’s almost the safest bet to securing a comfortable life. But what if the normal life repulses you? You see for me I realize how stable of a life I can have if I decide to finish college, but the only thing stopping me is the idea of getting entrenched. Most of us are fine being entrenched, but then there are some others who are incapable of entrenching themselves without creating a miserable reality. Those who question entrenchment are the ones who are entrenched in society, know they are entrenched, have a not-so-pleasant job, and keep trying everything to get out. Those with good careers are fine being entrenched as that works for them. But do they care to even fathom how entrenched they are? Most with a good career don’t even question it.

But what about us creative types who see no road to prosperity unless our creative ventures pan out? This is where the idea of doing a cost-benefit analysis matters. Ask yourself what living a life as a smart sheep can do for you. Weigh out the pros and cons. Then weigh out the pros and cons of what being a wolf can do for you. You will find that with smart sheep the pros and cons aren’t too deviated from each other, so that tells you that being a smart sheep can give you a life of stability. But with wolves, the pros and cons are about as “tale of two cities” as it could get. As a wolf, you’re either extremely miserable or extremely successful. All wolves start out dumb and most choose to become smart sheep when they become extremely miserable.

What’s the purpose of this article? I have been doing this cost-benefit analysis myself and I finally realize why people choose security over becoming great.

One thing I have noticed with those who choose to entrench is that they let societal pressures get to them and they end up conforming to what society wants. How do I know this? It almost happened to me. But I realize my ceiling is higher and will choose to pursue my creative ambitions regardless of what anyone thinks.

How to avoid letting societal pressures get to you? Deactivate Facebook. Get off of FinTwtit. Financial twitter and facebook will destroy your need to become great.
