One thing about our lives is that we cannot have too much stability. It makes you intellectually lazy. When society becomes completely entrenched in its stability then that’s when you should expect a shock. How can you tell if society is too entrenched in its stability? If people are making good wages during good economic times, but don’t travel enough. People must be traveling in order to avoid this shock. Stable societies are very difficult to control, not because they are resilient, but because they become intellectually lazy, and anything that they don’t originally care for will continue to disregard.
